Each day, vector-borne diseases adversely affect the lives of millions. Malaria alone will kill a child every 30 seconds and kill one million people annually. Beyond the individual tragedies, these diseases impose staggering social and economic costs on afflicted areas and limit growth and development.
BASF works with the international community to provide the products necessary to reduce the incidence of these diseases. By controlling the insect vectors that disseminate disease, our products help put an end to unnecessary suffering. BASF believes that eliminating disease empowers communities to provide for themselves and achieve sustainable, self-determined growth.
In addition to our vector control products, BASF is also providing agricultural solutions for African farmers. Agriculture is the foundation of most African countries supporting over 70% of the population and representing over 30% of African GDP. Increasing agricultural productivity is critical to decreasing the level of poverty and increasing economic stability.
