BASF Corporation participated as a vice chair sponsor of the Constituency for Africa's (CFA) 2003 “Constituents of the Year” Awards Luncheon, to honor individuals, public servants and organizations who do exemplary work to improve the quality of life in Africa. CFA is a nonprofit organization responsible for increased cooperation and coordination among international organizations and individuals committed to the progress and empowerment of Africa and its people.
Among the honorees recognized were Constituent of the Year award-winner Dr. Jendayi Frazer, Senior Director for Africa , National Security Council/The White House, and recipient of the Trailblazer Award, actor Danny Glover, Chairman of the TransAfrica Forum.
“Our involvement in this series and similar initiatives helps BASF develop partnerships with organizations that can influence humanitarian and economic progress throughout Africa and worldwide,” said John Thomas, Global Marketing Manager for BASF Public Health Products.
The awards are held as part of the Ronald H. Brown African Affairs Series, conducted annually in conjunction with the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Legislative Conference in Washington, D.C. This series aims to engage CBC members, opinion-leaders and decision-makers on critical issues concerning Africa. As a vice chair sponsor, BASF Corporation participated in several invite-only meetings presented on a variety of business, trade and health topics. BASF also acted as sponsor of the CFA HIV/AIDS Strategy Roundtable, a forum to examine solutions to the HIV/AIDS pandemic.
